Three people were killed and another injured when a small plane crashed on a golf course in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on Sunday.
The accident occurred around 11.20 am at the Barefoot Resort and Golf Club. It was a single-engine Piper PA-32 with four people on board, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.
Photos and videos posted online showed smoke billowing from the golf course near the upscale Barefoot Landing area.
A city dispatcher told him News of the Sun remains an “active scene” as the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board investigate the fatal crash.

Officer Pat Wilkinson said WPDE that a 911 call came in around 11:18 a.m., and North Myrtle Beach firefighters and police responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, they saw the small plane engulfed in flames, and Wilkinson said crews immediately began working to extinguish the fire.
He added that at least one person was pronounced dead at the scene and another was taken to a local hospital.
Describing the plane crash, a man on Twitter told how he and his wife saw the plane spiral down while they were stopped at a red light.
“I pointed it out to my wife and within seconds the smoke went up,” he wrote. ‘Emergency vehicles passed.
“This was all while we were sitting around waiting for the light to change.”
