Twitter may be in the process of breaking, but football transfer news still moves at the speed of light. There are several reports today, mainly from Dutch journalist Mike Verweij, that Spurs are close to signing Wolfsburg centre-back Micky van de Ven.
Verweij tweeted that Spurs have reached an agreement on personal terms and that the deal is progressing quickly.
BREAKING: Micky van de Ven personal deal with Tottenham on contract until 2028.

I don’t want to believe a rumor unless some man says HERE ANSAM? Well, here’s Fabrizio Romano saying something similar.
Tottenham are talking to Wolfsburg about Micky van de Ven. Ongoing negotiations for the option were disclosed here last week. ⚪️ #THFC
Both Tapsoba and van de Ven remain on the Tottenham list, talks are ongoing. https://t.co/fW7Tlv1KZk

And by the time this article is published, we may have even more news. Next: Here’s John Cross of the Mirror saying that there is actually a FULL deal for a £30m transfer (although as of this writing the Mirror article has yet to be published … and it is also the Mirror).

This is all breaking news and we don’t have much information, but right now it looks like van de Ven will be the Tottenham man. Does that mean they chose him over Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba? Are you considering buying SO MANY vans from Ven and Tapsoba? How does this tie in with the Clement Lenglet news today?
We do not know! Isn’t that exciting?
There are reasons to be interested in Micky, as I illustrated in my initial preview post about him. He certainly has tons of upside and possibly an even higher ceiling, though he may not be as polished at this point as Tapsoba. But we know he is excellent on the ball, very smart and young, so Spurs would sign him on the upward curve. It’s quite possible that Tapsoba has the highest floor, but Micky has the highest ceiling.
This is moving fast, so be prepared for an update or two to this article.
UPDATE (1:52 pm ET): Contrary to the Mirror report (lol), there is still no agreement between Wolfsburg and Tottenham over van de Ven according to Alasdair Gold.
I must stress that, to the angry types who will no doubt appear below, this does not mean that it will not happen. Spurs are very keen on the young Dutchman and there have been discussions. It is not an official agreement between the clubs at this time.
