Miki Sudo saved 39.5 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes to win the women’s competition at Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July Hot dog eating contest for the ninth time on Tuesday. Sudo fell short of his own record of 48.5 hot dogs and buns, which he set at the 2020 Independence Day event.

Fifteen women tried to scoop up as many hot dogs and buns as they could late Tuesday morning from an outdoor stage set up in New York’s Coney Island, near the amusement park and the area’s boardwalk.

Last year, Sudo polished 40 hot dogs and buns to win the contest.

The men’s competition is scheduled to be held on Tuesday afternoon.
