A call about a breaking news story turned into a proposal for an Alabama reporter.
ABC 33/40 in Birmingham Chief photographer Bill Castle recently posted a video showing on-air reporter Valerie Bell responding to reports of a vehicle in the water.
Bell arrives at the scene and begins questioning the officials, asking if it’s okay if he takes some notes. They tell her that’s fine, but before she does, she’s asked to turn around and told that she “might like that thing right behind you.”
That’s when she sees her boyfriend Blake Bjornson, a firefighter, on his knees with a ring box in his hand. He pops the question, she tearfully accepts and the whole scene is caught on camera. According to 33/40, Bjornson recruited some friends from the Pell City Police Department to push the proposal forward.
