Less than two hours after allegedly shooting into a car with four Canadian relatives on a Route 15 North exit ramp Wednesday, 22-year-old Brandon Mullins was arrested at his home west of Mansfield, according to Lycoming regional Police.
Mullins is accused of shooting the car multiple times on the Beautys Run Road off-ramp to the northbound lanes of Route 15 in Old Lycoming Township about 2:45 p.m., Detective Justin Segura said.
The road rage incident began in the city, where Mullins became enraged after he thought the Canadian driver, who was operating a Tesla, cut him off in the spur area of Route 15 North, he said safe
Mullins, who was driving a red 2016 Mazda CX5, then allegedly struck the side of the Tesla as the two drivers continued north toward Old Lycoming Township, Segura said.
The Canadian driver called 911 to report the crash while Mullins was traveling in front of him, police said.
On the Beautys Run Road exit ramp, Mullins began to pull over and made the Canadian driver think he was stopping to exchange information with him, Segura said.
Instead, Mullins “pointed a firearm out the driver’s side window. He then fired several times, again aiming at the Tesla.” the detective said in an affidavit.
No one was injured and the vehicle was not hit, according to police. Mullins then returned to Route 15 North and drove off.
Police said they were told Mullins had been “in Lycoming County for a job interview.”
The Canadian family was returning home after a vacation, Segura said. Two minors were in the Tesla, he said.
Police obtained a search warrant for Mullins’ vehicle, which was located at his home.
Police recovered a handgun from the Mazda, according to court records.
Following his arraignment before District Judge Aaron Biichle on charges of aggravated and simple assault, reckless endangerment and terroristic threats, Mullins was booked into the Lycoming County Jail in lieu of $175,000 bail.
