BROCKTON, Mass – Two people are in custody after a daylight shooting outside Brockton District Court left two people injured Monday afternoon.

According to the Brockton Police Department, officers responding to a report of a shooting at 215 Main Street around 12:30 a.m. found a man and a woman with apparent gunshot wounds.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There was no immediate word on the man’s condition.

After the shots rang out, buildings and businesses in the area went into a “stay in place” mode out of an abundance of caution.

Investigators eventually arrested two people and recovered a gun.

In a statement, officials said: “The Brockton Police Department would like to assure the community that there is no ongoing threat to public safety. This incident appears to be an isolated event and we are working diligently to gather more information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police.
