KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — An unknown masked man stopped and arrested four people accused of breaking into a cabin in West Virginia on Thursday, deputies said.
Deputies initially received a burglary call around 1:15 p.m. Thursday in Charleston, and when they arrived they found four people on the ground with their hands tied behind their backs, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff.
The four people were identified by the sheriff’s office as Elizabeth Littlejohn, 36, of Malden; James McDaniel Jr., 50, of Charleston; Timothy Justice, 56, of Milton, and Jason Becher, 38, of Charleston.
The four told officers they had been in the cab and when they left, a masked, armed man approached them, ordered them out of an SUV and out of a truck, according to the press release The unnamed woman then tied her hands behind her back and shot the tires of the vehicles before leaving the scene.
Deputies spoke with the owner of the property who said the residence was a hunting cabin that he did not live in full time. He also told deputies the cabin had been broken into several times in recent weeks, according to the news release.
Property from the cabin was found in the suspect’s vehicle, which led to the four people being charged with breaking and entering, according to the news release.
Investigators have determined that the homeowner had no involvement in the arrest of the suspects. The identity of the masked man is still unknown.
Bail was set at $5,000 per person.
