Federal prosecutors investigating Donald Trump’s effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election have questioned his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, among other witnesses to see if the former president acknowledged he had lost.

Mr Kushner testified in Washington DC last month, according to a report by The New York Times, and maintained that the former president believed the election was stolen, a source briefed on the matter said.

It has also emerged that other key figures in the administration, including Alyssa Farah Griffin and Hope Hicks, were also questioned.

Elsewhere, special counsel Jack Smith told a federal judge that there is “no basis in law or fact” for indefinitely delaying Mr Trump’s federal trial and urged the court to proceed with the selection of the sworn in December

In a new court filing, Smith wrote that one of Trump’s legal arguments “overturns frivolity” and said there is no evidence that waiting until after the 2024 presidential election would make the process easier.

Meanwhile, recent financial disclosure forms show Melania Trump was paid up to $155,000 by a Super PAC linked to her husband for “event planning and consulting.”

Trump thinks about the White House cocaine scandal and makes it all about him

Former President Donald Trump has once again weighed in on the investigation into cocaine found in the White House, once again making it about himself. Although at least this time he didn’t suggest the sitting president was a “crackhead.”

This is what he wrote this afternoon:

It has just been announced that the White House cocaine “investigation” has ended. Even though all the cameras are pointed straight at the “crime scene” and the best forensics in the world, they just can’t figure it out? They know the answer, and so does everyone else! Meanwhile, they continue to target and investigate me, for years, in what has been called the biggest witch hunt of all time – about NOTHING!!! ELECTORAL INTERFERENCE AND a two-tier level of justice.
