NORWOOD, Mass. – A Norwood man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the September 2021 death of his young daughter, according to Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey.
Anthony Decosta, 36, pleaded not guilty Friday morning in Norfolk Superior Court to involuntary manslaughter, reckless endangerment of a child and witness intimidation in the death of his daughter Francesca, who was 5 months old at the time , District Attorney Morrissey. said
Decosta was arrested on the warrant by Norwood police Tuesday evening and is being held without bail until a court can determine whether he will remain in jail or undergo an evaluation at a psychiatric hospital.
According to Morrissey, additional details from the events of September 5, 2021 fueled the investigation and led grand juries to indict Decosta.
“Because this was a direct indictment, with Norwood and State Police investigators proceeding through the grand jury, there are few details eligible for release at this time,” Morrissey said.
