An early morning driver of a Tesla Model 3 hit and seriously injured a motorcyclist before fleeing the scene, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Florida Highway Patrol said troopers are searching for the driver of a Tesla Model 3 that was involved in a crash on the Gandy Bridge early Sunday.
The driver was westbound at a “high rate of speed” on the Gandy Bridge just before 3 a.m. when he rear-ended a Suzuki GSXR-750 motorcycle, troopers said.
The motorcycle overturned. The rider, a 20-year-old Tampa man, was seriously injured.
Officers found parts of the Tesla at the scene, according to the Highway Patrol, and tracked the vehicle to an apartment complex in Largo where the vehicle’s owner lives. They seized the car as evidence while trying to figure out who was driving it, the Highway Patrol said.
Investigators ask anyone with information about the identity of the driver to call *347 or Crime Stoppers at **8477.
