AND A FAMOUS SINGER IS IN HAMILTON COUNTY TO ENCOURAGE VOTERS TO VOTE HER PREVENT. OUR JOHN LONDON WILL JOIN US LIVE FROM A RALLY WITH JOHN LEGEND. THIS IS WLW E. T NEWS 5 CLEAR THE WAY. WITH BREAKING NEWS BREAKING AT NOON AT TAYLOR MILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN NORTHERN KENTUCKY, A CONSTRUCTION WORKER HAS BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN AN INCIDENT ON SCHOOL PROPERTY. WLWT NEWS 5 TODD — HE’S LIVE ON THE SCENE WITH WHAT WE KNOW RIGHT NOW. TODD. ALL RIGHT. I THINK WE HAVE SOME PROBLEMS WITH TODD’S MIC. MICROPHONES THERE. Also, WE WILL BE BACK TODD HERE IN JUST A MINUTE. BUT WE’VE GOT OTHER BREAKING NEWS TO COME AND WE’RE FOLLOWING TODD TO TODD, WHO IN A FEW MINUTES. NOW HE IS DOING A TEST. PAIGE JOHNSON’S MOTHER IS THE FIRST WITNESS CALLED IN THE TRIAL LINKED TO THE DISAPPEARANCE AND DEATH OF A 17-YEAR-OLD, 13 YEARS AGO. THIS IS A HISTORY THAT HAS BEEN IN THIS AREA. PAIGE JOHNSON WAS LAST SEEN IN 2010, BUT NO ONE WAS CHARGED UNTIL AFTER HER BODY WAS FOUND. MORE THAN TEN YEARS LATER. THIS HAPPENED IN 2020. AND NOW JACOB BUMPASS IS IN JUSTÍ. WLWT NEWS 5 DANIELLE DINDAK JOINS US HERE IN THE STUDIO WITH WHAT WAS SAID DURING THE OPENING STATEMENTS AND THE PAGE’S EXCITEMENT AND TESTIMONY. HIS MOTHER THERE. GOOD AFTERNOON, KELLY. AND YOU AND VERY EMOTIONAL. BUT BEFORE THAT, JACOB BUMPASS IS ACCUSED OF ABUSE OF A CORPSE AND MANIPULATION OF EVIDENCE IN THE CASE. HE IS BELIEVED TO BE THE LAST PERSON TO SEE JOHNSON ALIVE. BUMPERS HAS NOT BEEN CHARGED WITH MURDER OR ANYTHING LINKING HIM TO CAUSING JOHNSON’S DEATH, BUT INVESTIGATORS BELIEVED THAT HAS NOT BEEN THE TRUTH FOR THEM FOR OVER A DECADE. NOW, STARTING WITH OPENING STATEMENTS EARLIER TODAY, PROSECUTORS ARE CALLING THEIR FIRST WITNESS, PAGE’S MOTHER, DONNA. NOW, THE WOMAN TOLD JURY PAGE SHE WAS 17 AND A YOUNG MOTHER THE NIGHT SHE DISAPPEARED. SHE DID NOT HAVE HER PHONE. JACOB BUMPERS TOLD POLICE HE DROPPED PAIGE OFF IN COVINGTON THAT NIGHT. BUT INVESTIGATORS SAY HER PHONE RINGED NEAR EAST FORK LAKE AROUND 415 THAT MORNING. FOR TEN YEARS, NO ONE KNEW WHAT HAPPENED TO JOHNSON. IN MARCH 2020, HIS REMAINS WERE FOUND IN A WOODED AREA IN CLAREMONT COUNTY. MALPASS WAS INDUSTRIALIZED FOUR MONTHS AFTER THAT. NOW, TODAY, PAGES. THE WOMAN’S MOTHER TALKED ABOUT THE FIRST TIME SHE LEARNED ABOUT THE MUFFLER AND HOW SHE HAD A VERY BAD SENSE OF IT. AND THEN IT WAS JUST TWO WEEKS BEFORE IT DIED. NOW, LIKE ANY MOTHER, SHE ALSO TALKED ABOUT PAGE’S BRIGHT FUTURE AND WILD PERSONALITY, MAKING IT CLEAR HOW MUCH PAGE IS MISSING. IT WAS A LOT. SWEET I. IT WAS FUN. WAS IT SPECTACULAR? IT WAS VERY SPECIAL. COULD BE FEISTY. HE MADE PEOPLE LAUGH A LOT. JUST A VERY EMOTIONAL TESTIMONY. PROSECUTORS TOLD JURORS DURING OPENING STATEMENTS THEY WOULD ALSO HEAR PAGE’S SISTER, AS WELL AS HER BOYFRIEND AT THE TIME, RONNIE. NOW, KARIN JOHNSON IS IN THE ROOM AND WILL BE JOINING US LIVE FROM TODAY’S FOUR WITNESSES. DANIELLE DINDAK TO BE HONORED TO BE A TEENAGE WAS FIVE YEARS OLD. OK DANIELLE THANK YOU. WE WANT TO GO BACK TO THIS NEWS FROM TAYLOR MILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. OUR TODD — LIVES THERE. CONSTRUCTION WORKER SERIOUSLY INJURED ON SCHOOL PROPERTY. TODD. WHAT CAN YOU TELL US? YES STEVEN AND KELLY SORRY ABOUT THE MIC PROBLEM. WE HAVE RESOLVED THIS. NOW, I CAN TELL YOU THAT EVERYTHING IS QUIET AT THE MOMENT, BUT AT AROUND TEN THIS MORNING, ONE CORNER OF TAYLOR MILL ROAD WAS CLOSED IN FRONT OF TAYLOR MILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. THE POLICE ARE NOT RELEASING MUCH INFORMATION AT THIS POINT. BUT WHAT APPEARS TO HAVE HAPPENED IS THAT HERE SOMEHOW IT LANDED ONTO A CONSTRUCTION WORKER WHO WAS DOING SOME WORK IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL. A LOT OF HEAVY MACHINERY HERE, A MOVING EARTH, ETC. COVINGTON POLICE AND FIRE, RAN TO THE SCENE. THAT WORKER WAS QUICKLY TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL AND WE ARE WORKING TO FIND OUT NOW HOW SERIOUS THE INJURIES ARE. BUT I CAN TELL YOU, I HEARD ONE PERSON AT THE SCENE THAT THE MAN IS ALIVE AND THAT STATEMENT ALONE ASSUMES THE PROBABLE SERIOUS NATURE OF THE SHOULDER WHICH WERE SUSTAINED. HERE AGAIN, IN FRONT OF TAYLOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AROUND 930, AT 10:00 THIS MORNING, I WAS CONTACTED BY A CLINTON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT SPOKESMAN. HE RESTATED THAT IT WAS NOT AN EMPLOYEE OF THE SCHOOL WHO WAS INJURED AND THAT HE WANTED TO MAKE THIS POINT IN THE AGREEMENT. BUT EVERYONE, INCLUDING YOUR ENTRY, SEND A LOT OF EMPATHY FOR THE PERSON OR HAVE A LOT OF EMPATHY FOR THE HURT PERSON. OBVIOUSLY PRAYING FOR THAT PERSON TO LIE. FOR NOW, REPORTING LIVE IN KENT COUNTY, TODD — WE’RE ON NEWS 5. OK, TODD, THANK YOU. WE APPRECIATE THE UPDATE. ALSO WITH THE WEATHER AND THE POSSIBILITY OF MORE SCATTERED GATHERINGS TODAY, WE’RE NOT TALKING ABOUT ANYTHING BIG LIKE WE SAW YESTERDAY EVENING, BUT OUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY FOR FRUITFUL WEATHER IS NOT THAT FAR AWAY. METEOROLOGIST KATIE DONOVAN JOINS US WITH THIS TIMELINE. KATIE. YES, GO FORWARD. IN THE AFTERNOON, GUYS. WE HAVE A COUPLE OF DAYS BEFORE WE LOOK FOR ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY FOR FRUITFUL WEATHER. WHAT WE’RE SEEING TODAY, REALLY JUST ISOLATED FLAMES. WE HAD A SEVERE STORM IN NORTHERN KENTUCKY, JUST IN THE LAST HOURS, IT HAS NOT BUILT UP, BUT WE DID SOME VERY HEAVY RAIN, SOME FREQUENT LIGHTNING AND WE ALSO HAD A SINK WITH SMALL PIECES. FAR AWAY. WE ARE NOW DRY HERE AS WE GO THROUGH TODAY OR THE 12 HOUR FORECAST SHOWS TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW EIGHTIES TODAY. SO WE’RE GOING TO HEAR THE BASS EIGHTIES ALL AFTERNOON. OUTSIDE IS EXTREMELY GOOD. THAT HEAT INDEX MORE LIKE THE HIGH EIGHTIES TODAY. AND AS WE GET DOWN TOWARDS THE SECOND HALF OF THIS AFTERNOON, BETWEEN FOUR TO SIX, EVEN 7:00 TONIGHT, WE MAY SEE SOME ADDITIONAL SHOWERS START. SO THE RADAR IS ACTIVATING MORE RIGHT NOW BEFORE THINGS START DRYING OUT AGAIN, SO SOMETIME TONIGHT. CURRENTLY SITTING AT 76 DEGREES. WE HAVE 73 AND FLORENCE ONLY IN THEIR 77, 74 IN LOVELAND AND HAMILTON. YOU ARE SITTING AROUND 77 NOW. THESE DEW POINTS ARE IN THE UPPER SIXties TO LOW 70’S AND AT EACH MOMENT THE TEMPERATURE AND DEW POINT ARE CLOSER, OUTSIDE IS MORE HUMID. SO THEY ARE REALLY FEELING THAT TROPICAL AIR, YOU WON’T SEE THOSE 70S HERE TOO OFTEN AND THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT WE’RE FEELING TODAY THAT REALLY REALLY TRICKLY THINGS IN THE ATMOSPHERE ARE GOING TO CHANGE FOR THE BETTER FOR MORE OF THE WEEK AT LEAST IN MOISTURE. SO WE WILL TALK ABOUT THIS ROUND OF POTENTIAL STRONG WEATHER COMING TO FRUIT AS WE GO INTO THURSDAY. AND ANOTHER BUMP,
