AIKEN COUNTY, SC –
Three men have been charged in connection with the removal of human remains in Aiken County.

Thomas Guinn, 30, Cody Wooten, 37, and Donald Britton, 51, were arrested and charged with desecration, destruction and removal of human remains, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

On July 14, the remains were discovered around 2:30 p.m. near the 300 block of Wendy Lane. Windsor investigators and the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office say they found a body in a shallow grave in Windsor.

Capt. Eric Abdullah of the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office says they believe the remains are related to the John Belote missing person case.

“We have three people arrested as part of a missing person case,” says Abdullah. “John Belote, the person who is missing is still considered missing. We have some human remains that were discovered around those individuals charged in connection with those remains.”

Despite the charges, Belote is still believed to be missing.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office is working to identify the remains and determine the cause of death.
