DENNIS, Mass. – A 17-year-old girl has died after the boat she was on crashed into a Cape Cod jetty Friday night, authorities said.
Local emergency officials with assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard launched a search and rescue operation for a missing person who was in a boat that collided with a Cold Storage Beach boatman, according to Massachusetts State Police.
The teenage victim’s body was pulled from the water around 11:30 p.m., state police said. His name has not been released.
Video from the scene showed a large emergency presence and several ambulances as crews searched the area.
A Barnstable County dive team and Sandwich Fire Department marine assets assisted in the search.
State police detectives assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office and Dennis police are conducting a death investigation.
