REVERE, Mass. – Two motorists were injured, one seriously, when a black SUV struck them and continued traveling on Route 1A late Saturday night, state police said.

A preliminary investigation by the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section found that shortly before midnight, two 2021 Suzuki GSX motorcycles left the Shell station onto Lee Burbank Highway, or Route 1A, northbound.

A witness told police that just north of the gas station, the two motorcycle operators either slowed down or pulled over in the right lane to wait for a third motorcycle operator who was still at the gas station, state police said.

At some point, an unknown black SUV traveling north on Route 1A struck both motorcycles and continued north, state police said.

Both motorcyclists were taken by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital, state police said.

The crash remains under investigation by Massachusetts State Police and Revere Police.
