Debris from the Lake Michigan plane crash (USCG Great Lakes) A small plane crashed into Lake Michigan near Beaver Island Friday morning, officials confirmed, killing one person. The US Coast Guard’s 9th District, which covers all of the Great Lakes, says they were notified of a plane crash and were able to get to the scene quickly because they were conducting training exercises in the area. ROCHESTER, NY – A 6-year-old boy died after being struck by a vehicle around 2:15 pm Friday on Thurston Road. Rochester Police Lt. Greg Bello said the boy died at Strong Memorial Hospital after being hit near the intersection with Sawyer Street. He said the driver of the vehicle, which was northbound on Thurston Road, is cooperating with the investigation.
