Sentencing in New York could soon face more scrutiny under legislation passed this week by state lawmakers. For supporters, it’s another step toward creating a more equitable criminal justice system, especially for defendants of color. But opponents, including Republican lawmakers and law enforcement officials, say the measure raises too many potential questions for crime victims. The pending bill, which will head to Gov. SEABROOK, NH — A 77-year-old Massachusetts man was killed in a crash on Interstate 95 in Seabrook Tuesday night, state police said. Eraldo Bezerra, of Hudson, Mass., died in the crash that happened around 8 p.m. Tuesday, state police said. At approximately 8:11 p.m., troopers responded to the report of a serious motor vehicle accident on I-95 North in the Town of Seabrook.
