Police chase turns into tactical operation in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Newport News police are currently on the scene of a tactical operation Tuesday evening. According to police, the incident began when officers spotted a person wanted for felony malicious wounding around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The person was driving on Old Courthouse Way. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the individual refused to stop, initiating a police pursuit. Once the pursuit reached the 800 block of Lucas Creek Road, the wanted suspect stopped the vehicle and ran into an apartment complex. Former California corrections officer admits to assaulting inmates and lying

A former California corrections officer pleaded guilty Monday to federal charges, admitting he covered up the assault of two inmates, one of whom died, and then bragged about it in text messages. The former officer, Arturo Pacheco, 40, of Elk Grove, Calif., pleaded guilty to two counts of deprivation of rights under the law and two counts of falsifying records in a federal case. Robbery Suspects Wanted in Deadly Shooting at South Fulton QuikPick

Officials did not specify what time of day the incidents occurred. Both suspects were wearing gloves and masks during the robberies, according to police. South Fulton police put out a bulletin asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects. The department also released surveillance footage of the masked men inside one of the stores.
