Part of I-79 reopened after shutdown due to power outage – WPXI

UPDATE: PennDOT has announced that the closure has ended and the road is reopening.

AUTHORIZED: Utility work on I-79 northbound between Exit 55 – Heidelberg and Exit 57 – Carnegie.

All lanes on a portion of Interstate 79 are closed due to an electrical emergency, according to police.

The Bridgeville Police Department said the interstate is closed between the Kirwan Heights and Carnegie exits.

The closure will begin at 2:30 p.m. and is expected to last around one hour.

The electrical problem is said to have happened off Steen Road.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
