A Maurepas man died in a single-vehicle crash after he lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected, according to Louisiana State Police.
In a statement, LSP spokesman Christian Reed said Salvatore Caserta, Jr., 51, was riding a 2016 Indian Scout motorcycle westbound on Highway 42 in Los Angeles around 1 p.m. Sunday when he lost control and went off the road to the right. As a result, Caserta was thrown from the motorcycle, Reed said.
Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, Caserta suffered serious injuries and was not rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was obtained from Caserta and will be submitted for analysis, Reed said.
