Bixby police say a child has died after being hit by a car Wednesday night.
Bixby police sent out an alert asking drivers to avoid the area after they said a child was hit by a car shortly before 7 p.m.
According to police, the crash happened at 169th Street and Highway 64 and the area is back open after being closed for nearly three hours while crews investigated the crash.
Police say after the crash, EMSA took the victim to the emergency room, where the boy later died.
Police have not released the victim’s name or age, but officers say he was a young child.
At this time, authorities have not yet released any information about the driver involved or how the accident occurred.
Bixby Police say the crash is under investigation and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is assisting.
