A driver runs a red light and kills a woman in a crash in Dunedin, deputies say

An 18-year-old man was arrested on a charge of vehicular homicide after he ran a red light at a Dunedin intersection Wednesday and crashed into a woman’s car, killing her, officers said .

Dominic Rampi of Dunedin was driving a 2011 BMW 335i south on Belcher Road at a high rate of speed around 10:50 p.m. when he ran a red light at the intersection with Curlew Road, according to the County Sheriff’s Office pinellas The BMW crashed into the side of a 2013 Dodge Charger that was headed east on Curlew.

The driver of the Dodge, 75-year-old Marion Miller, was taken to a local hospital, where she died.

The force of the crash caused the Charger to hit a 2010 Madza 3. The driver of the Mazda was not injured.

Rampi also got injured. Deputies said speed and impairment appeared to be factors in the crash and additional charges are pending.

Rampi was booked into the Pinellas County Jail Thursday morning and was being held on $20,000 bond, jail records show.
