Oklahoma City police are investigating after a 16-year-old boy was shot Tuesday morning on the city’s southwest side.
Investigators said it happened around 7:20 a.m. in the parking lot of a PDQ express stop near Southwest Grand Boulevard and South Walker Avenue.
Police said the shooting started as a fistfight and the department believes everyone involved was a student. It is unknown if all were students at nearby Capitol Hill High School.
At one point in the fight, police said someone involved in the fight retrieved a gun when several shots were fired.
Officers said the 16-year-old was taken to the hospital.
The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, police said.
Capitol Hill High School has resumed normal operations after a lockdown was put in place and additional security will be in place at the school throughout the afternoon.
The investigation is ongoing.
