Washington – Three weeks later abruptly parting ways with Fox Newscontroversial TV host Tucker Carlson said he is launching a new show on Twitter, claiming the social media platform owned by Elon Musk is one of the few platforms that supports free speech.
“There aren’t many platforms left that allow free speech,” he said in three minutes video Tuesday announcing his next step. “The last big thing left in the world, the only one, is Twitter, where we are now. Twitter has long served as the place where our national conversation is incubated and developed. Twitter is not a partisan place, everyone is allowed there, and we think that’s good.”
At the end of a monologue in which he told viewers that “the news you’re consuming is a lie,” Carlson said he would “bring a new version of the show that we’ve been doing for the last six and a half years” to the platform.
“We’re just grateful to be here,” he said. “Freedom of speech is the most important right you have. Without it, you have no other.”
Musk on Tuesday he tweeted“I also want to be clear that we have not signed an agreement of any kind. Tucker is subject to the same rules and rewards as all content creators.”
“I hope that many others, especially on the left, will also choose to be content creators on this platform,” added Musk.
