The remains were discovered in the wooded area around exit 40 in the Suffolk County town of Islip.
On Thursday, July 13, 2023, at approximately 7:15 a.m., New York State Police responded to a call of skeletal remains found along the eastbound Southern State Parkway in the wooded area around off exit 40 in the town of Islip, Suffolk County.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the Forensic Identification Unit (FIU) are on the scene.
