Commenting on the episodes of violence and vandalism in the protests following the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari yesterday called his party “political terrorists” and asking how talks could be held with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. (PTI), Dawn reported.
“We always supported the talks and even convinced our allies for it. But 1684036953, how can we hold talks with terrorists? We can only hold talks with those who condemn terrorism and disassociate themselves from these political terrorists,” he said.
Bhutto also criticized the judiciary for “becoming more political than necessary”.
At a rally, where he also denounced the bail granted to PTI chief Imran Khan in multiple cases, he said, “When we restore democracy, the judiciary becomes more political than necessary. And when there is a dictatorship, they remain quietly. And once again, our judiciary is becoming more political than necessary.”
He urged the judiciary “not to get involved in politics” and said that whether it is the judiciary or the establishment, “no institution will be able to become the tiger force of a party”.
This comes after Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah earlier said there is no option but to impose a ban on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) following the three-day violent protests that erupted after of the arrest of party chief Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case, Geo News reported.
“It is important to take a stand against armed groups. There is no other option but to impose a ban on this party. [PTI],” the interior minister said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad.
Sanaullah said that PTI chief’s only aim is to spread chaos and anarchy in the country.
He also held Khan-led party workers and supporters responsible for damaging public property and storming military installations across the country during violent protests across the country, Geo News reported.
“The government will bring these ‘gangs’ to book. They [miscreants] will be identified through CCTV cameras and rounded up one by one,” he added.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Democratic Movement President Maulana Fazlur Rehman has urged people, including lawyers, to come out in front of the Islamabad Supreme Court on Monday to register their “peaceful protest”.
In a video message, he said the caravans should arrive at Constitution Avenue at 9 a.m. for the demonstration against the supreme court.
“The way the Supreme Court or its three-judge bench, and under its influence the high court judges, have protected a criminal, we believe we must protect the institutions of the country and repair what is wrong “.
Also, PTI chief Imran Khan called on his supporters to hold neighborhood protests across the country, days after clashes between his supporters and security forces sparked by his arrest.
“Freedom does not come easily. You have to seize it. You have to sacrifice yourself for it,” he said in a speech broadcast on YouTube.
He called on his supporters to stage protests “at the end of your streets and villages” across the country on Sunday, and announced that he would campaign again for an immediate election on Wednesday.
In a special message to Pakistani women, she urged them to show their defiance against the current government of Shehbaz Sharif.
“Tomorrow at 5:30 p.m., and I am addressing women especially because I am seeing a revolution in our homes, you must come out with a handwritten placard reading ‘Haqeeqi Azadi’ (true freedom) and ‘Aain bachao “. , Pakistan bachao’ (save the Constitution, save Pakistan). Stand with these posters outside your houses for just one hour, from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm,” Imran Khan said.
