Breaking News Update: Orlando man runs red light and crashes into Apopka police cruiser on US-441

Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision in Orange County Sunday afternoon that left an Apopka police officer with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the FHP, the crash occurred at approximately 3:30 pm on US-441 (Orange Blossom Trail) at the intersection of State Road 414 (Maitland Boulevard) in Orange County.

A 2013 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling west on the State Road 414 (Maitland Boulevard) exit ramp approaching US 441 (Orange Blossom Trail). At the same time, an Apopka Police Department patrol vehicle was traveling southbound on US 441, approaching State Road 414 in the inside lane.

The driver of the Camaro ran a steady red light and collided with the left front of the APD cruiser. The driver of the Camaro, a 39-year-old man from Orlando, was not injured and remained at the scene.

The APD officer was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-traumatic and non-life threatening injuries.

This accident remains under investigation.

The FHP did not release the names of the two drivers involved in the collision.
