The audit took place in February 2023. Detectives found a single backpack with a large amount of illegal steroids and suspected psilocybin mushrooms missing.
Investigators said Denning had access to that room as the boss, and the backpack was part of a drug case in which he was the investigating officer.
The case had previously been classified as closed, and the backpack was scheduled to be destroyed, but it was never destroyed.
