There is no political will to solve the problems

Long before we had a polio vaccine, there was a charity called the March of Dimes. He was dedicated to finding a cure for polio. After developing the vaccine, the charity had to change its focus from polio to childhood cancer. It is unlikely that childhood cancer will ever be eradicated, as polio was, because every cancer is a little different.

Politicians have noticed. Problems are not useful if they are solved. Take immigration. Most Americans are immigrants not too many generations ago. I certainly am.

People are flexible and most want immigrants. Fixing the problem would be easy enough, but it would put politicians out of work.

Therefore, politicians are happy to leave the problem unsolved and blame “Congress for doing nothing.”
