INDORE: A political storm has erupted in the polling MP after six statues of the ‘Sapta Rishi’ at the Shri Mahakal Lok complex in Ujjain fell during a storm on Sunday night. The Congress has formed a team of senior members to probe the alleged corruption in the Mahakal Lok project, while the Govt. BJP criticized him for “politicizing an act of nature”.
The Ujjain administration has removed the broken statues and started repairing them.
On Monday, PCC chief Kamal Nath tweeted, “When the then Congress MP government undertook to make a grand corridor in the Mahakal temple complex, it was not imagined that the subsequent government would commit serious irregularities in the project”.
BJP has accused the Congress of playing politics. On Monday, Finance Minister Jagdish Devda said, “There is no corruption,” Devda insisted, arguing that even “50-year-old trees were uprooted during Sunday night’s storm.” “No one should make politics over the incident.”
