EASTHAMPTON, Mass. – The body of a missing water skier was recovered Tuesday in Easthampton after a boating accident over the weekend, according to Massachusetts State Police.

Search crews located Carlos Lopez, who went missing after hitting a boat in the Connecticut River around 7pm on Sunday.

Two people in the boat that struck the water skier were taken to a nearby hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

Crews searched for Lopez until midnight Sunday, but were unable to locate him. The search was called off again Monday night without finding him.

Around 1 p.m. Tuesday, state agents using a remotely operated underwater vehicle found an area of ​​interest. A dive team entered the water and found Lopez about 15 feet below the surface. His body was found about 150 meters from the coast a short distance from where the accident took place.
