Breaking news: District closes parts of Lake Apopka North Shore Loop

The St. River Water Management District. Johns will close the Lake Apopka North Shore Loop Trail from Magnolia Park to Conrad Road beginning June 5 until further notice due to construction in the area. Visitors are advised to use the entrance located on Lust Road.

The Lake Apopka Loop Trail follows the lakeshore through the property, covering more than 20 miles and offering opportunities for hiking and biking. There are four trailheads for the Loop Trail, with restrooms at Green Mountain, the North Shore/McDonald Canal Boat Ramp, the trails at Magnolia Park, and the port-a-lets at the historic pump house. There is no drinking water along the way.

Construction will not affect the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive, which will be open during regular hours of 7 am to 3 pm on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and federal holidays.
