1. The US House sent a debt ceiling bill to the Senate.
In a bipartisan vote, the House passed a crucial debt ceiling bill in the Senate, five days before the deadline suggested by the Treasury. Three-quarters of House Democrats and two-thirds of House Republicans supported the bill, which passed 314-117.
From the delegation of the Chamber of Georgia, three Republicans and one Democrat voted against it. Republican Reps. Mike Collins, Andrew Clyde and Rich McCormick and Democrat Rep. Nikema Williams expressed concern about the deal’s compromise on spending.

2. GBI and APD arrest three bail bond organizers who funded legal efforts of protesters against ‘Cop City’.
Police on Wednesday arrested three key Atlanta organizers who have been helping protesters against the city’s proposed police and fire training center. Marlon Scott Kautz, 39, of Atlanta; Savannah D. Patterson, 30, of Savannah; and Adele MacLean, 42, of Atlanta, were charged with money laundering and charity fraud. That comes later a subsequent lease agreement was discovered in the training center budget proposal, doubling the public cost to $67 million.

3. Kari Lake will replace Mike Pence as keynote speaker at the state Republican convention.
Lake, a staunch supporter of Donald Trump, refused to back down after his loss in the Arizona gubernatorial campaign. Trump himself will also appear at the convention, along with several Republican candidates for the 2024 presidency.
4. Savannah’s original suffragist gets a historical marker.
Mamie George Williams was a committed suffragette who supported voting rights and was a lifelong advocate for children, including the Girl Scouts. Williams was also the first woman to represent Georgia at the national Republican convention.
