PGA Tour, DP World Tour and LIV Golf agree to stunning merger

The PGA Tour, DP World Tour and LIV Golf have shocked the sports world by announcing they are merging to form “a new collectively owned entity.”

The announcement comes after more than a year of unprecedented disruption to the men’s professional game following the launch of the Saudi-backed LIV Golf league.

The new entity has yet to be named, but the agreement signals a new era of cooperation “to unify the game of golf globally.”

A statement released today by the PGA read;

“After two years of disruptions and distractions, this is a historic day for the game we all know and love.” PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said

“This transformative partnership recognizes the immeasurable strength of the PGA TOUR’s history, legacy and pro-competitive model and combines with it the DP World Tour and LIV, including the concept of team golf, to create an organization that will benefit the golfers, commercial and charity partners and fans Looking forward, fans can be confident that collectively we will deliver on the promise we have always made: to promote the competition of the best in professional golf and that we are committed to ensuring and drive the future of the game.
