Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann to participate in ‘Tiranga Yatra’, launch Haryana poll campaign
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann will participate in a ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in Haryana’s Jind district on Thursday. AAP’s Haryana unit chief Sushil Kumar Gupta said the event is part of the party’s campaign for the assembly elections in Haryana scheduled for next year.
Gupta, who is a Rajya Sabha MP, said the people of the state are looking for a ‘badlav’ (change), which will come through the ‘Tiranga Yatra’. AAP is the only viable alternative to the state, he added.
All 10 Lok Sabha seats of Haryana were won by the BJP in 2019. In the ‘Tiranga Yatra’, he said that he will start from Jind, which is considered the nerve center of Haryana politics.
Gupta alleged that corruption has flourished in the state under the BJP-JJP government. It is not a ‘gathbandhan’ but a ‘thug bandhan’, he alleged.
The “corrupt regime” will be ousted in next year’s assembly polls in Haryana, Gutpa said.
RBI MPC policy rate decision on Thursday
The Reserve Bank’s monetary policy panel, which began deliberations on Tuesday, will announce its decision on Thursday. Expectations are that the central bank will keep benchmark interest rates unchanged at 6.5 percent due to lower retail inflation and the need to boost economic growth, PTI reported.
After the last MPC meeting in April, the RBI halted its rate hike cycle and stuck with the repo rate at 6.5 percent. Prior to this, the central bank had raised the repo rate cumulatively by 250 basis points from May 2022 to try to contain inflation.
The MPC is meeting against the backdrop of consumer price inflation (CPI) falling to an 18-month low of 4.7 percent in April.
