St. Petersburg police are investigating what they said was a drug lab at a waterfront home in the city’s Venetian Isles neighborhood Sunday afternoon.
Several fire trucks and emergency vehicles were at the scene at 2063 Illinois Ave NE as a precaution, police said, as some of the substances can be volatile. The Pinellas County 911 department classified the incident as a “hazardous materials emergency,” but police said there was no danger to nearby properties and no one has been evacuated.
The home has a pool and had an assessed market value last year of more than $1 million, according to Pinellas County property records.
One person, Robert A. Papp Jr., 32, of New Port Richey, was arrested and booked into the Pinellas County Jail Sunday on felony charges related to the trafficking of amphetamines. You are not listed as the owner of the property.
This is an ongoing investigation.
