MALDEN, Mass. – The Middlesex County District Attorney is investigating after a woman was shot at a Malden apartment complex.
According to the DA, the shooting happened around 2:22 a.m. at an apartment complex on Overlook Ridge Drive in Malden.
Upon arrival, police located a 33-year-old woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to the DA, “parties were inside the lobby of the apartment complex when guns were fired by multiple parties.”
“You can tell there’s something big going on here, with the police, with all the units, the state troopers when you first walk into the complex,” said Gina Rayes, who lives at the apartment complex and he saw the crime scene as it was. back from work Sunday morning. “That’s not expected here, it’s very quiet, everyone is calm, they walk their dogs. Everyone greets each other, greets each other.”
Another man was later taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The motive remains under investigation, but it appears preliminary that one of the men was being targeted, according to the DA.
This investigation is active and is being led by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, and Malden Police.
