The full slate of opponents for each SEC program in 2024 will be announced later Wednesday, but there is already some breaking news about the 2024 schedule that has been dropped.
In 2024, the first year Texas and Oklahoma will be in the conference, the SEC is going with an eight-game non-division schedule.
According to a report from ESPN’s Peter Burns, every SEC team will play either Texas or Oklahoma in 2024.
Earlier Wednesday, some news leaked about the Texas Longhorns’ 2024 schedule.
According to Chip Brown of 247Sports, the Longhorns will play Texas A&M, Arkansas, Georgia and Oklahoma in 2024. That leaves four additional opponents for Texas.
The assumption is that the Tennessee Vols will play the Oklahoma Sooners in 2024. And Brown’s report certainly increases those odds.
Tennessee was scheduled to host Oklahoma in 2024 in a non-conference matchup, but that game was shelved once it was announced the Sooners would join the SEC.
Full details of the Vols 2024 schedule will be revealed later Wednesday, but we know for sure that Tennessee will have a game against either Texas or Oklahoma in 2024. We just don’t know when or where that matchup will take place.
