With the 4th of July just around the corner, Wisconsin is getting those fireworks going early.

On Saturday, 247sports composite four-star cornerback Omillio Agard (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Joseph’s Prep) announced his commitment to head coach Luke Fickell and the Badgers on a national offer list.

Agard also received offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame, Tennessee, USC, Michigan, LSU, Miami (FL), South Carolina, Florida State, Texas A&M and many others.

UW hosted Agard for an official visit the weekend of June 9, a trip that sealed the deal for the Badgers.

“I was surprised,” Agard said. “When you think of Wisconsin, you think of farms and fields, there’s nothing. The campus is basically the town of Madison. The boys love the school. They’re very proud. It has great academics. It’s bigger than I thought and it’s beautiful

“My parents loved it too. I definitely didn’t expect it. It really feels like family.”

Agard initially took UW out of his top 10 last fall, but once Fickell and assistant coach Colin Hitschler came over from Cincinnati, the Badgers got back in the game.

“Coach Fickell, Coach Hitsch and Coach Haynes (Paul Haynes) — those three changed my mind,” Agard stated. “I liked Cincinnati when Coach Fick was there, but it’s not the power of five, not where I want to go.

“I always kept in touch with those guys. When I saw they all moved to Wisconsin, it opened my eyes. It’s Big Ten football. The West is wide open to do big things. That’s what made me come eager to make an official visit. .

“When they found out they still had a chance to find me, they were really excited. I can really be a great piece for their class.”

Agard is UW’s second cornerback commitment, joining Jay Harper (Valley, Ala.). As a junior, he recorded 14 pass breakups and will play in the All-American Bowl in January.

“They see me as a corner man,” Agard said. “I can press or play outside. I can also play nickel. They think I’m very versatile and I can fit in with their defense.”

The Badgers are now up to 15 commitments in their class of 2024. According to the 247sports aggregate, Agard is the No. 30 cornerback in the country.
