A woman died of a gunshot wound, YCSO is investigating

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – A 31-year-old Yuma woman died of a gunshot wound just after midnight Sunday.

According to the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO), at approximately 12:16 p.m., deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the area of ​​West 1st Street. Upon arrival, officers found a female unresponsive with a gunshot wound.

YCSO said deputies performed life-saving procedures until the Rural Metro Fire Department arrived and took over. However, the victim, identified as Christian Galindo, 31, of Yuma, died from his injuries.

YCSO’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations took over the investigation and revealed that Galindo was inside her home when a stray bullet struck her.
