The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department is investigating a homicide early Sunday evening. On July 2, shortly before 5 p.m., KCPD responded to a scene near the residential area of 20th Street and Oakley, east of downtown Kansas City. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found an adult man lying in front of a residence, unresponsive and with an apparent gunshot wound. EMS arrived at the scene and pronounced the victim dead. Detectives have a person of interest still at large. There is no immediate threat to the public at this time. The circumstances surrounding the homicide appear to be the result of an argument. Homicide detectives responded to the scene to look for witnesses and process evidence. It is still early in the investigation. Police have not yet released information about the victim, possible suspects or any of the circumstances of the homicide. Anyone with information is asked to call homicide detectives at 816-234-5043. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information provided to TIPS that leads to an arrest in the case.
