Wisconsin won a heated recruiting battle for Irondale (Minn.) offensive lineman Emerson Mandell, Minnesota’s top player.

The Badgers beat out Oklahoma, Minnesota, Texas A&M, Penn State, Iowa State, Iowa, Kansas State, Missouri, Kansas, Illinois and others for the 247sports four-star composite prospect. Mandell took June officials to UW, Minnesota and Iowa State.

Mandell is the Badgers’ 16th commitment in their 2024 recruiting class. He likely rounds out an offensive line class that includes Colin Cubberly (Lagrangeville, N.Y.), Kevin Heywood (Royersford, Pa.), Ryan Cory (Gibsonia, Pa.) and Derek Jensen (Hartland, Wisconsin). He’s also head coach Luke Fickell’s fifth four-star composite prospect in his first full recruiting cycle.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 295 pounds, Mandell is expected to play interior offensive line at UW. Mandell is the nation’s No. 24 offensive tackle in the 2024 class, according to 247sports.
