WORCESTER – City officials closed Shore Park Beach and Coes Pond Beach Wednesday because of high levels of E. coli bacteria.
The beaches will remain closed until additional lab tests indicate acceptable levels of bacteria, city officials said in a statement Wednesday.
E. coli can pose a health risk to swimmers and can cause acute gastrointestinal and other illnesses, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
