A shooting at a Tennessee home leaves 6 dead, including a suspect

Three children and three adults were found dead after authorities in Tennessee responded to a reported shooting at a home that was set on fire Thursday. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said among the dead was the person believed to be responsible for the attack in Sequatchie, west of Chattanooga.

The agency did not immediately identify the alleged assailant.

Marion County Sheriff Ronnie “Bo” Burnette he told WTVC-TV the furore “seems like it was just a domestic situation gone bad.”

The remains of the deceased were taken to Nashville for autopsies, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said. Details of how they died were not immediately released.

A fourth adult was found alive with gunshot wounds and taken to a Chattanooga hospital.

Neighbors told WTVC-TV they heard gunshots around 8 pm Thursday.

Jasper, Tenn., sheriff’s deputies and police officers responded to a call about a shooting at the home just before 9 p.m., the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said.

When authorities arrived, they found the house on fire, the agency said. The remains of the deceased were found after firefighters put out the fire.

The agency said an investigation into the hit-and-run is ongoing.
