An Alabama The TV reporter got the scoop of her life when she found her now-fiancé on one knee for a marriage proposal behind her while she was at work.
Valerie Bell, reporter from Birmingham ABC branch WBMA, arrived on scene in response to reports of a vehicle driven into water while speaking with Pell City Police Department officials.
Video captured by station chief photographer Bill Castle shows the moment firefighter Blake Bjornson who is friends with the police department officialshe knelt behind her with a ring box in his hand.
“So, do you mind if I take some notes?” Bell asked an officer at the scene.
“Uh, sure, yeah, but before you take some notes, I think you’ll like to see something right behind you,” the officer said as he pointed towards Bjornson.
“Oh my God,” Bell said before expressing his surprise at the setup.
Bjornson, who said at his proposal that Bell was the best thing that ever happened to him, soon received a yes from his now-girlfriend.
Bell, in a tweet, wrote that the proposal was “a big surprise.”
“I can’t wait to spend forever with you. I’m the luckiest girl #BecomingBjornsonBell wrote.
