A recent Facebook post promises breaking news delivered by former President Donald Trump that, on July 11 publication he says, “I just dropped a bomb!!!”
The post includes a more than 15-minute C-SPAN clip of Trump speaking at a lectern. The word “live” appears in the corner.
But this picture has not been published for almost a year.
This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat fake news and misinformation in its news feed. (Read more about our partnership with Metaowner of Facebook and Instagram.)
The video was recorded in November 2022, when Trump spoke at an America First Policy Institute event. During his remarks, he responded to the Justice Department’s appointment of a special counsel to investigate him in connection with classified documents.
Claims that this is a recent video showing Trump’s breaking news are false.
