WARREN CO., PA. (EYT) – Prison escapee Michael Burham was arrested Saturday evening in Warren County.
According to an article published on Erie News NowState police troopers received a call shortly before 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 15, from residents of Jackson Run Road in Conewango Township, Warren County, about a suspicious person.
According to investigators, they tracked down Burham, 34, in the woods.
As Burham approached Logan Road, he encountered soldiers along the perimeter. Burham reportedly tried to hide, but was approached from behind and detained by U.S. Marshals, Border Patrol and troopers.
He is currently at the Warren State Police Station awaiting arraignment.
According to Erie News Now, state police are making a decision on where Burham will be taken; however, it will not be the Warren County Jail.
Burham escaped from the Warren County Jail late Thursday, July 6. He reportedly climbed out of the top of the prison’s recreation yard, crossed the roof of the courthouse and used tied sheets to descend to the ground.
At a press conference Sunday, July 9, at the Youngsville fire hall, State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens stated that during the search, “promotions and small campsites” were found. Burham was noted to be a “self-taught survivor” with a military background.
Warren State Police say this incident remains “a very fluid situation and an active investigation.”
