The G20 Energy Transitions Working Group will begin in Goa
The two-day G20 Energy Transitions Working Group meeting will begin today in Goa. The meeting is held to deliberate on the creation of global cooperation towards the development of sustainable and clean energy. The fourth ETWG meeting under India’s G20 chairmanship will be chaired by Union Energy Secretary Pawan Agarwal, the power ministry said in a statement.
Union New and Renewable Energy Secretary Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, Union Mines Secretary Vivek Bharadwaj and Union Coal Secretary Amrit Lal Meena will also be part of the meeting, PTI reported.
Delhi LG, CM Kejriwal to meet to decide new chairman of DERC
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and LG VK Saxena are likely to meet today to decide on the appointment of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) chairman. According to PTI sources, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) dispensation has provided three names.
The government has also received a communication from the LG’s office about Wednesday’s meeting, more government sources told the news agency.
The Supreme Court had on Monday asked the two constitutional officers to rise above “political disputes” and discuss who could head the national capital’s power regulator.
The court will hear the matter again on Thursday, July 20.
Moderate rain forecast in Delhi
Several parts of Delhi and its adjoining areas witnessed rain on Tuesday due to which the day’s temperature dropped two degrees below the monthly average to settle at 33.4 degrees Celsius. Whereas, the minimum temperature was settled at 27.3 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department has forecast similar weather conditions on Wednesday. The sky will remain cloudy with the possibility of rain of moderate intensity in some parts of the city.
