A Cañon City teenager was arrested Thursday after reports of shots fired at several downtown locations.

According to a press release Thursday night, Ashton Beicker, 19, of Cañon City, was arrested on charges of criminal attempt to commit assault in the first degree, unlawful discharge of a firearm, endangerment threatening and reckless.

Cañon City Police offers responded at 12:19 p.m. Thursday to multiple reports of shots fired in the Historic Downtown area (between 400 and 500 blocks of Royal Gorge Boulevard, Main Street, Macon Avenue and Greenwood Avenue ).

Officers interviewed several victims and witnesses who reported a dark-colored sedan with a lone driver, who was wearing a mask and brandishing a gun. A person reported that the man took aim and fired several shots towards their general location and left. Shortly after he left, several more shots were fired.

Authorities said there were no injuries in the incident.

While on scene, officers heard additional shots fired north of their location and
drove to the area and eventually made contact with a vehicle matching the description given by the victims and witnesses.

During the stop, officers were able to establish probable cause to arrest the driver, Beicker, for firing the firearm, from his vehicle, at several locations.

Authorities stated in the press release that the police department is seeking the public’s help in finding out if there have been additional filming locations in the area.

“We ask that anyone with information related to this incident contact Detective K. Roquemore with the Cañon City Police Department,” the statement said. “We are also asking that residents in the vicinity of this incident, which spans the location between the 400 to 500 block of Royal Gorge Blvd., and north to the area of ​​N. 7th St. and Whipple Ave., check to confirm that your property has not. suffer any damage related to this incident and contact us if they did.”

Beicker is being held on the charges listed above in the Fremont County Jail. Your bond is pending counseling.
