DORCHESTER, Mass. — Two local Norfolk and Hadley women have each claimed a $1 million prize won in Wednesday’s Powerball drawing, state lottery officials said Monday. Winners claimed their prizes Friday at Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester. Jan Busby of Norfolk said her winning numbers included family members’ birthdays. He told lottery officials that he only plays a few times a year, but this time he was playing because the jackpot was so high. Max Verstappen will get a replacement trophy after his Hungarian GP winning version broke down on the podium. The reigning world champion left his first trophy on the first step of the podium when he started spraying champagne, but Lando Norris caused it to fall by hitting his bottle next to the trophy. BOSTON — A Bureau of Prisons employee who works as a correctional counselor at Devens Federal Medical Center has been charged with accepting payments from an inmate in his care, in violation of his duties as a public official, the U.S. attorney’s office said Monday. William S. Tidwell, 49, of Keene, NH, is also accused of lying to a bank about a loan he received from the inmate’s business partner and forging the partner’s signature to support that false claim, the U.S. attorney’s office said in a statement. A SWAT situation involving a gunman barricaded inside a home in a Kennesaw neighborhood has been resolved, authorities said. The incident happened Monday afternoon at a home in the 4100 block of Kentmere Main in the Kentmere at Legacy Park neighborhood, Kennesaw police spokesman David Buchanan said. It was resolved shortly before 3 p.m., he said. According to Buchanan, the barricaded man called 911 and told the dispatcher he had a gun. No shots were fired during the confrontation.
