MIDDLETON, Mass. – A 15-year-old girl who was hit by a car on a Middleton driveway last week has died from her injuries, the district attorney and police chief said Monday.
The victim, who was not identified Monday, was injured April 10 when a vehicle struck her in the driveway at 1 Meadowlark Farm Lane, said Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker and the Middleton Police Chief William Sampson said in a statement Monday night.
She was flown by medical helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital, where she died of her injuries Sunday, authorities said.
The driver of the car that hit the girl remained at the scene and has cooperated with authorities, Tucker and Sampson said.
A preliminary investigation found the teenager’s death appeared to have been accidental.
The case remains under investigation by the State Police Detective Unit of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the Services Section of the ‘Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene and Middleton Police Department.
